Impact of ICT on Academic Libraries: Challenges for library Professionals

Abstract

The operation of ICT has handed more effective and effective service delivery in the library. The use of ICT installations is an important tool in the academic libraries as it supports resource sharing among academic libraries, increase effective and effective service delivery, saves time, give marketing occasion of its services, give speedy and easy access to information and to give further up to date information to stakeholder. With the help of ICT, we can easily do our work in academic libraries like accession, cataloguing, bracket, periodical control, rotation, stock verification, information storehouse/ reclamation, services of libraries like reference/ information service & other services by using library softwares. library can provide communication services to user by means of Audio, Audio Visual, Tele textbook, Fax, Online hunt, E-mail networking, social spots, Search machines, Teleconferencing, Cellular phone, Voice correspondence. ICT are making their significant contribution in the development of academic libraries.
