Abstract

An attempt is made through this study to highlight the facilities, usages, modernization & services provided by libraries in the colleges of education. College of education cannot accomplish their objective without libraries and libraries have no meaning if these cannot support education. A library is not a building stacked with books — it is a repository and source of information and ideas. In a dynamic approach to teaching, it supplies enrichment materials in all fields of study. Civilization has progressed by virtue of specialization. Library habit creates specialists. In changing pattern of today’s education, library is considered to be the most powerful media to promote self-education, to acquire information and to provide research facilities. Any student joining a college should make it a habit to visit the library regularly. It can make only possible to adopt new techniques and technology in the libraries for providing better environment to its users.
